If the Station Area Plan is approved by the Larkspur City Council and implemented as intended, the results would include:

  • Increase of Larkspur's population by 10% - 20%;

  • Massive increase in traffic in an already gridlocked area due to new retail, office, and hotel attractions

  • Increased air, water and noise pollution as the population density increases

  • More water rationing as our finite water supply is additionally taxed

Could Larkspur be "Wincuped"?

Unfortunately, yes.  The City of Larkspur has been developing a high density development plan for the Larkspur Landing Area for the past two years.  This plan, called the "Station Area Plan ("SAP"), would re-zone the Larkspur Landing area to permit the construction of:

  • 920 additional residential units

  • 77,500 sq ft in additional retail space

  • 39,500 sq ft in addtional office space and

  • a new 60,000 sq ft hotel.

We are a group of Larkspur residents who do not feel that the SAP's goal of promoting massive,

high density development is in keeping with the values of the majority of Larkspur residents.

Our planning department has apparently determined that more people + more traffic = a higher quality of life for Larkspur residents.  Please join us in taking a stand to preserve our small town's character.  Provide us with an email address below and we'll keep you updated with the latest news and events!

April 29  Larkspurfightsback.com sponsors film sceening at the Lark Theater in Larkspur:  Rebels with A Cause.

This film chronicals the fight during the 1960s between Marin residents and development proponents over plans to bring freeways, housing, and commercial development on a massive scale to West Marin.  Because Marin residents fought back, we - and tourists from around the world - are able to enjoy today the amzaing beauty of the Mt. Tamalpais watershed.  It's sobering to think how close we came to losing it.  See how West Marin was saved on April 29th at the Lark.  7:00 p.m.; box office opens at 6:30 p.m.
